As you can read from our previous blog posts, the initiative to develop PerfectKLIK was inspired from our past life experiences and especially from our interactions on the interpersonal marketplaces. An interpersonal marketplace is a marketplace where the social component plays a crucial role, with both its good and bad parts.
While we believe that interpersonal marketplaces are a good thing and the way of the future, we also recognize that it matters greatly how these marketplaces are laid out. In the past, the best way to participate on an interpersonal marketplace was mainly by placing a classified ad in a newspaper or a post on a bulletin board, but the fast development of new technologies has brought a wide range of alternatives. The major weakness of the interpersonal marketplaces is that it is difficult to get a reasonably complete picture of the supply and demand on the market, which in turn means that it is difficult to select the most optimal social and economical offer. The randomness of this system has led to many funny, frustrating and sometimes horrifying experiences.
For example, we don’t often think about the weaknesses of the interpersonal marketplaces when searching for a flat or a room to rent. If you look at your own past experiences in renting a flat or a room you will see that, generally, you have actually spent less time in analyzing the market and in choosing a place where you will live for at least several months of our life, compared to the amount of time that you used when preparing for vacations or when buying a new laptop. We tend to end up in situations in which we have to spend a sizable percentage of our monthly income into a flat for rent, often with a feeling of rush and compromise.
From our past life experiences we learned that things have to dramatically change in the access economy area. New web services have to allow us to get a more complete picture of what’s available on the market and to compare rental objects and tenants through pictures and reviews before making a decision on who to contact. To celebrate how new web technologies are stepping in to improve these marketplaces we invite you to share your own tragicomic stories with us and with the rest of the web community. Like that we can all contribute to building of a better world!
